Description: As Cardiac Rehab Professionals, we serve adults of all ages, but we will always see a goodly number of aging participants. Although aging participants vary greatly in their abilities and needs, many share specific age-related nutrition issues. This talk, released as recorded webinar in 2024, will address some of the more common nutrition issues associated with aging and cardiovascular disease and disease interventions. We will cover increased protein needs, poor hydration, weight issues (both gaining and losing), constipation and supplements. We’ll cover these issues, and you’ll leave with sound, simple strategies that you can use to help these participants improve their outcomes.
Learning Objectives:
1.) Participants will be able to calculate protein needs of cardiac rehab participants.
2.) Participants will be able to list 3 strategies that can help ease constipation.
3.) Participants will be able to list 3 strategies that can be used to increase hydration.
