Description: This webinar presents a life course framework for cardiovascular risk assessment in women, emphasizing how conventional risk factors can affect women differently, how to identify female specific risk factors across the life course, and how to apply sex informed risk assessment to patient care, using a case example to illustrate common pitfalls in risk estimation. Participants will leave with practical prevention strategies that incorporate female-specific risk information into risk prediction and follow up care, including lessons from postpartum prevention programs for women with prior hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.
Learning Objectives:
1. Identify key sex differences in conventional cardiovascular risk factors and explain how these differences can contribute to risk underestimation in women across the lifecourse.
2. Incorporate female specific risk enhancers, including adverse pregnancy outcomes, into clinical cardiovascular risk assessment and prevention planning.
3. Apply a life course, sex informed approach to selecting preventive strategies and follow up pathways for women, including postpartum risk management after hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.
