Overall Course Description: The AACVPR course in electrocardiography will provide the fundamentals of ECG interpretation and arrhythmia recognition necessary for the cardiac rehabilitation professional. Specifically designed for the cardiac rehabilitation environment, the course will cover six key areas. These will include: 1) Fundamental concepts of ECG electrophysiology and vectors, 2) Electrocardiography of acute and chronic coronary artery disease, 3) Arrhythmia interpretation, 4) Pacemaker electrocardiography, 5) Chamber enlargement, bundle branch block and preexcitation, 6) Pharmaceutical effects, QT syndromes and metabolic disorders. Educational materials and illustrations will be derived from Dr. Zimmerman’s textbook, ECG Core Curriculum, as well as from actual clinical cases.
Overall Learning Objectives:
At the completion of this course, attendees will be able to:
1. Describe the electrophysiologic basis for the normal ECG.
2. Properly identify and measure ECG intervals, segments and waves.
3. Demonstrate understanding of the vector concept and their relationship to ECG findings, avoiding reliance on pattern recognition.
4. Learn how to diagnose chronic coronary disease and differentiate acute coronary syndromes from “infarction imitators.”
5. Diagnose atrial and ventricular ectopic complexes, tachyarrhythmias and bradyarrhythmias.
6. Recognize chamber enlargement, bundle branch block and preexcitation.
7. Describe heart block and pacemaker electrocardiography.
8. Identify the effects of medications and metabolic disorders on the ECG.
9. Interpret tracings using a system of structured reporting.
10. Recognize “red flags” that warrant intervention or adjustment of exercise.
Recordings will be made available following each webinar. There is a 60 day viewing window for the recordings.

This webinar will cover electrophysiology of the normal 12-lead ECG, making basic measurements, understanding vectors, acute and chronic coronary syndromes and “infarction imitators.”
Presented by Franklin Zimmerman, MD, FAACVPR
No relevant disclosures.Topics Covered: This webinar will cover electrophysiology of the normal 12-lead ECG, making basic measurements, understanding vectors, acute and chronic coronary syndromes and “infarction imitators.”
Webinar Description: This webinar will introduce ECG interpretation. It will cover basic electrophysiology, nomenclature, and proper technique. It will discuss understanding the vector concept to explain the configuration of a normal ECG.
Webinar Learning Objectives:
At the completion of this webinar, attendees will be able to:
1. Describe electrophysiology of the normal ECG - why these "squiggles" look the way they do.
2. Explain how to make basic measurements.
3. Demonstrate understanding of vectors and why we should avoid "pattern recognition."
4. Recognize acute and old myocardial infarction, coronary ischemia, and "infarction imitators."

This webinar will cover electrophysiology of sinus rhythm and calculating HR, using laddergrams for arrhythmia analysis, complex cornucopia (early and late), heart block, and supraventricular arrhythmias.
Presented by Franklin Zimmerman, MD, FAACVPR
No relevant disclosures.Topics Covered in this Webinar: Electrophysiology of sinus rhythm and calculating HR, Using laddergrams for arrhythmia analysis, Complex cornucopia (early and late), Heart block, and Supraventricular arrhythmias.
Webinar Description: This webinar will begin the discussion of arrhythmias, starting with the electrophysiology of normal sinus rhythm and the technique of calculating heart rate both for regular and irregular rhythms. The technique of using laddergrams for arrhythmia analysis will be described and these techniques will then be used to illustrate and diagnose ectopic complexes and heart block. This webinar will conclude with the interpretation of supraventricular arrhythmias (SVT/MAT/Afib/Aflutter).
Webinar Learning Objectives: At the completion of this webinar, attendees will be able to:
1. Discuss basic electrophysiology for the cardiac rehab specialist.
2. Learn the proper calculation of heart rate in the presence of arrhythmias.
3. Recognize a variety of supraventricular arrhythmias, ectopic complexes and AV block.
4. Learn how to construct a laddergram to better understand the mechanism of arrhythmias.
