This course, recorded in 2018, will review key information regarding the CCRP Blood Pressure Management Competency, including:

1.) Physiology of blood pressure at rest and with exercise.

2.) Etiology and pathophysiology of hypertension.

3.) Classifying and measuring blood pressure.

4.) Identifying and managing symptomatic hypotension in the rehab setting.

5.) Non-pharmalogical behavior change strategies.

6.) Managing resistant hypertension.

7.) Psychosocial issues that impact blood pressure management.

8.) Medications in the management of hypertension.

9.) Medication adherence.

Please note: the AACVPR Education Committee has clarified that a cuff too small creates falsely high BP readings and a cuff too large creates falsely low BP readings.
